Answer:

To explain:

Difference between density and relative density

Differences:

1. Density of a substance is the ratio is mass to volume of that substance.

density is denoted by "ρ"

ρ = (mass/volume)

2. But relative density is the ratio of density of a substance to the density of water at 4°C.

It is denoted by Rd.

Rd

= ( ρ of subst.)/( ρ of water at 4°C)

3. Density has a proper dimensional formula and a unit.

Density dimension =[( M) (L^-3)]

On the other hand, relative density is the ratio of 2 similar quantities, hence has no dimensional formula and no unit.
