(x+1)² -x² = 31
(x+1-x) (x+1+x) =31
(1) (2x+1) =31
2x +1=31
2x=31-1
2x = 30
x =30/2
x =15
Numbers are,
•15
• 15+1=16

Let the first consecutive Number be X .
Then the other will be (X+1)
According to question,
(X+1)² - (X)² = 31
X²+1 +2 × X × 1 - X² = 31
2X+1 = 31
2X = 31-1
2X = 30
X = 30/2
X = 15
First Number = X = 15
And,
Second number = X+1 = 15+1 = 16
Hence,
The two consecutive Number is 15 and 16
