NEWTON'S THIRD LAW OF MOTION

Newton's third law states that 'To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction'.

Explanation with example:

Newton's third law states that every action (in the form of force) that occurs in nature will have an equal and opposite reaction. That is,

If an Object A exerts a force of N on Object B, the force exerted back by Object B on Object A will also be N.

Example:

  • When we jump, our body exerts a force on the ground. The ground exerts an equal and opposite force back at our legs, propelling us to jump.
  • When a ball is thrown at a wall, it will exert a force on the wall. Therefore, the wall also exerts a force of the same amount and the ball jumps back.

Newton is a person who lived on Earth. :)

His third law states that for every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction. In other words, if object A exerts a force on object B, then object B also exerts an equal and opposite force on object A. Notice that the forces are exerted on different objects.
