put this solution on YOUR website!

X is bigger than Y

X-Y=15

6X+4Y=270

multiply first equation by 4

4X-4Y=60

and add to 2nd equation

10X=330

X=33 Y=18

The larger number is 33

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the larger number be x

Let the smaller number be y

We are given that The difference between two numbers is 15

So, x-y = 15   ------ A

Four times the smaller plus six times the larger is 270

4y+6x=270

Substitute the value of y from A

4(x-15)-6x=270

4x-60+6x=270

10x=330

x=33

Hence The larger number is 33
