Answer:

let one no. be x

let another no. be y

now

in first statement it is said that the difference between the two nos. is 4

so

x-y=4

the difference between their squares is 56

x^2-y^2=56

applying the property

a^2-b^2= (a-b) (a+b)

now

(x-y) (x+y)=56

given value of x-y=4

4(x+y)=56

(x+y)=56-4

(x+y=52

Hence the answer is 52
