Step-by-step explanation:

x + y = 46. x =46- y

x - y = 9

46 - y - y =9

46 -2y =9

y = -37/2

put this value in 1st equation

 \sf \underline{step \: by \: step \: explanation}

Given:

  • difference between two numbers is 9

  • sum of numbers is 46

____________________________________

  • let the first number be x

  • second number be y

___________________________________

According to question given difference number is 9 so,

  \bf \red{x - y = 9}

 \bf \red{x = 9 + y \: is \: eq(1)}

___________________________________

sum is 46 now we get,

 \rm \red{⟹ \: x + y = 46}

 \rm \blue{⟹ = (9 + y) + y = 46}

 \rm \green{⟹ = 9 + y + y = 46}

 \rm \orange{⟹ = 9 + 2y = 46}

 \rm \pink{⟹ = 2y = 46 - 9}

 \rm \red{⟹ = 2y = 37}

 \rm \blue{⟹ = y =  \frac{37}{2}}

 \rm \pink{⟹ = y = 18.5}

first number is 18.5

____________________________________

Now second number

put the value of y we get,

 \tt \red{⟹x = 9 + 18.5}

 \tt \green{⟹ = 27.5}

I hope it's help uh
