now
$\frac{x}{y} = 4 \\ x = 4y \\ x - y = 36 \\ x = 36 + y \\ = > 36 + y = 4y \\ 36 = 4y - y \\ 36 = 3y \\ 3y = 36 \\ y = 36 \div 3 \\ y = 12$
now x
$x - y = 36 \\ x - 12 = 36 \\ x = 36 + 12 \\ x = 48$
