x^2+y^2=73
x-y=5
squaring on both sides x^2+y^2-2xy=25
73-2xy=25..... 2xy=48
xy=24

if the two no. are =x and y
then the first no x is 5 grater then y
so the equation is
x=y+5
and sum of the square of the no. is 73
then. x^2+(y)^2= 73
if x=y+5
then (y+5)^2+y^2= 73
=y^2+25+10y+y^2=73
=2y^2+10y+25-73=0
=2y^2+10y-48=0
=y^2+5y-24=0
=y^2+8y-3y-24=0
=y(y+8)-3(y+8)=0
=(y-3)(y+8)=0
then the value of y =3 or -8
in the question the two no are positive then Y is equal to 3 and if x is equal to Y + 5 so x is equal to 8 your first number is 8 and your second number is 3
