$x + x + 5 = 43 \\ 2x = 43 - 5 \\ 2x = 38 \\ x = 19$
so the other number is 19+5 i.e., 24

ATQ x - y = 5 .........(1)

also x + y = 43 ...........(2)

adding (1) and (2) we get,

2x = 48

x = 24

x-y = 5 =》 24 - y = 5
