si for 3 yrs = p*t*r/100

= p*3*12/100

= 36p/100

si for 5 yrs = ptr/100

= p*12*5/100

= 60p/100

si1-si2= 432

60p/100-36p/100=432

0.24p=432

p=432/.24

p=1800

The principal is Rs. 1800
