The difference in the measure of two complementary angles is 12 degree.Find the measures of the angles.

Solution

The relation between complementary angles is that their sum is 90°

Let the two angles as x and y.where x>y

Now according to the question.

x - y = 12 eq(1)

and according to their relation

x + y = 90° eq(2)

Now adding equation 1 and 2

x -y +X +y = 90 +12

2x. = 102°

x. = 51°

Now putting the value of x in eq 1

51 - y = 12°

51- 12 = y

39°. = y

So , the two complementary angles are 51° and 39° .
