Difference of 2 numbers = 11

Let two numbers be x,y..

so x - y = 11....(1)

1/5th of their sum is 9..

(x +y)×1/5 = 9

x + y = 45...(2)

add (1) and (2)

x + y + x - y = 45 + 11

2x = 56

x = 56/2

x = 28....(3)

subsitute (3) in (1)

x - y = 11

28 - y = 11

28- 11 = y

17 = y....

so x = 28, y = 17....
