it's square is
${x}^{2}$
next no. is x+1
it's square is
$({x + 1})^{2} = {x}^{2} + 1 + 2x$
their difference is 31
${x}^{2} + 1 + 2x - {x}^{2} = 31 \\ 2x + 1 = 31 \\ 2x = 30 \\ x = 15$
The two consecutive numbers are : -
$x = 15 \\ x + 1 = 16$
