Solution -

Let the digit in ones place be x

So, the digit in tens place be 3 + x

Original no. = 10(3 + x) + 1(x)

= 30 + 10x + x

= 30 + 11x

New no. = 10(x) + 1(3 + x)

= 10x + 3 + x

= 11x + 3

According to Question,

New no. + Original no. = 143

⇒ (11x + 3) + (30 + 11x) = 143

⇒ 11x + 3 + 30 + 11x = 143

⇒ 22x = 143 - 33 = 110

⇒ x = 110/22

⇒ x = 5

Original no. = 30 + 11x

= 30 + 11(5)

= 30 + 55  = 85

∴ The number is 85
