the digits of a two digit number differ by 3. If the digits are interchanged , and the resulting number is added to the original number , we get 143. what can be the original number?

Answer:

Let the digits of the number be = x, y

We get to know that :

x - y = 3 ( when 'x' > 'y' ) ...(1)

Now, original number = 10x + y

Now, original number = 10x + yDigits reversed, we get = 10y + x

According to the question now :

10x + y + 10y + x = 143

=》 x + y = 13 ...(2)

Eliminate "y" from both the equations... you get :

x = 8

x = 8y = 5

Original Number = 85
