Explanation:

Given The dining hall of a hotel is 12.5 m long, 9 m broad and 7 m high. It has two  doors  2.5m by 1.2m each and four windows 1.5 m by 1 m each. Find the cost of papering  its wall at the rate of ₹ 3.50 per m2.

  • Given Length of the dining hall of a hotel = 12.5 m
  • Breadth of the dining hall of a hotel = 9m
  • Height of the dining hall of a hotel = 7m
  • Area of four walls of dining hall will be 2 (l + b) x h
  •                                               = 2 (12.5 + 9) x 7
  •                                               = 2 x 21.5 x 7
  •                                               = 301 sq m
  • Now Area of one door = 2.5 x 1.2
  •                                       = 3 sq m
  • Therefore Area of 2 doors will be 3 x 2
  •                                        = 6 sq m
  • Now Area of one window = 1.5 x 1
  •                                            = 1.5 sq m
  • Therefore Area of 4 windows will be 1.5 x 4
  •                                            = 6 sq m
  • Now Area of the walls to be papered will be
  •                                   = 301 – (6 + 6)
  •                                   = 301 – 12
  •                                    = 289 sq m
  • So cost of papering the walls at Rs3.50 per m^2
  •                                     = 289 x 3.50
  •                                     = Rs 1011.5
