Given:

Discharge speed through the pump= 10m/s

Total head = 100ft = 30.5m

To find:

The unit power of the given pump

Solution:

Power (in watt) = P = Y X g X H X Q

Here, Y = Density of water = 1000kg/m³

g = acceleration due to gravity = 10 m/s²

H = Head in metres

Q = Flow Rate in m/s

Substituting the values,

P = 1000 X 10 X 10 X 30.5

= 3050000 watts

Since 10⁸ watts = 1 unit,

So 3050000 watts = 3050000/ 10⁸ units = 0.0305 units

≈ 0.031 units (approx)

Hence, the  unit power of pump will be 0.031 units.
