Gingivitis also known as gum inflammation is a disease that causes swelling along with redness of the gums and tongue.

During the early stages of gingivitis there is abuild up of bacteria along with plaque thereby causing the gums to become swollen and inflammed, which leads to bleeding during brushing the teeth.

Although there is bleeding, the teeth remains firmly placed in the socket.
