The Mughal is the constitutional head of the North Indian Empire, while the Chatrapati is his counterpart in the South Indian Empire...
Considering the Marathas would have good relations with Britain and France, and the Mughals with the Ottomans, they could enter the war on opposite sides. On the other hand, if they have entered the 20th Century being at peace with each other, they will have matured enough to decide that they should just sit this one out altogether and actually encourage the belligerents to come to peace. Minus the "Jewel in her Crown" Britain would be much weaker than in the real WW1, and minus an eastern front to fight on, the Ottomans would be much stronger in the West.
