Distance formula= (x2-x1) ²+(y2-y1)²

Write with a whole root in above formula

Whole root (-4-(-1))²+(a-3)²= root 10

Whole root (-4+1)²+(a+3)²= root 10

Squaring on both sides:-

(-3)²+(a+3)² = 10 [using (a+b) ² formula]

9+ a²+3²+2(3)(a)=10

a²+9+6a=1

Now we do splitting middle term after rearanging

a²+6a+9=1

a²+3a+3a+9=1

a(a+3)+3(a+3) =1

(a+3)(a+3)=0

Therefore we get a=3,3
