we have v-u=60cm
but using sign convention we get
u=60+v
and using mirror formula
-1/40=1/v+1/60+v
on solving it we get an quadratic equation
v²+140v+2400=o
on solving it we get
v=-120cm
and hence we get
u=-60cm
but using sign convention we get
u=60+v
and using mirror formula
-1/40=1/v+1/60+v
on solving it we get an quadratic equation
v²+140v+2400=o
on solving it we get
v=-120cm
and hence we get
u=-60cm
