we know that, according to distance formula ,

  • Distance between P(a,b) and Q(c,d) is equal to = √[(a - c)² + (b - d)²]

so, using distance formula we get,

→ PQ = √[(1 - 2)² + (0 - cot A)²]

→ PQ = √{(-1)² + (-cot A)²}

→ PQ = √(1 + cot²A)

using 1 + cot²A = cosec²A we get,

→ PQ = √(cosec ²A)

→ PQ = cosec A (Ans.)

Hence, the distance between two points P(1,0) and Q( 2, cotA) is cosec A .
