When body starts from rest it means u=0
Applying in the formula we get
S=1/2at²
If motion of the body is uniform it means a=0
Applying in the formula we get
S=ut

when body start it is u-o
by using
s= 1/2 at2
but acceleration is 0.
so s=ut
