In the story “The Doctor’s Word” by R.K. Narayan, the author shows relationship between a doctor and a patient.
Explanation:
- “The Doctor’s Word” is a story where we have theme of friendship, uncertainty, fear, connection, compassion, trust, and conflict.
- It is a story of two friends Ramu and Gopal. Ramu is a doctor and he knows that his friend Gopal’s condition is so, bad and he is about to die but as Ramu is an honest doctor and never tell a lie but for the sake of his friend’s life he is compelled to tell his that he is fine and Gopal trusts his friend so much so, he believes his words.
- But, Ramu has a conflict with himself. But Ramu’s lie gives life to his friend. Ramu is surprised at how his friend survived and relieved happily for his friend. I agree with Ramu because if one lie can save anyone’s life it is a blessing for both of them.
