This question is based on the short story 'The Snake and The Mirror' by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer.

The doctor says "But my mind was active." Two examples from the short story which show that his mind was really active are as follows :

1. The doctor did not jump, tremble or cry out but merely sat there holding his breath and remained totally motionless so as not to let the snake know that it was coiled around a living being.

2. He did not let the snake's presence on his body weigh him down by thinking about the medicines he would have to take in case of a snake bite.
