The drawbacks of Rutherford's model of atom was that the revolving electron will lose energy and collapse with nucleus but Bhor gave that atoms revolve in orbits then why in the model of bhor the electron don't collapse as is should collapse because nucleus is positively charged and electrons are negatively charged so unlike charges attract each students

Answer:

in Ruther Ford model he said that electrons are attracted by nucleus but bhor tackled this by giving a correct explanation about this

he told that electrons are attracted by nucleus and another nucleus in another atom

Answer:

We all know that a major drawback of Rutherford's model of atom is that it does not explain the stability of the atom. This is because according to the electromagnetic theory of physics if a charger particle undergoes accelerated motion then it must radiate energy continuously. So, if we apply this theory to Rutherford's model of atom it will mean that the negatively charged electrons revolving around the positively charged nucleus with accelerated motion will lose their energy continuously by radiation. And ultimately they will fall into the nucleus by taking a spiral shape. This should make the atom very unstable and hence the atom should collapse. But we know that this does not happen at all. Rather atoms are very stable and do not collapse on their own. Rutherford's model does not explain the stability of the atom.

The stability of the atom was explained by the Bohr's model of atom which states that:

1) The electrons could revolve around the orbits in only certain orbits or certain energy levels, each orbit having a different radius.

2) When an electron is revolving in a particular energy level around the nucleus, the electron does not radiate energy, even though it has accelerated motion around the nucleus. And that's why an atom is very stable.

This is the answer to your question.
