All the water available in Earth are not potable and useful mainly due to saline nature of ocean bodies and rivers

The most water present on earth is a saline water. It contains huge amount of iodine. If we take it, then excess amount of iodine causes harm to us. Portable water present in very less amount in comparison to saline water. So, there is a shortage of water.
