The earth is acted upon by gravitation of Sun, even though it does not fall into the Sun. Why?

Earth does not fall into Sun because earth keeps revolving around Sun. This creates a centripetal force that pulls earth away from the Sun. When this force is equal the gravitational attraction, earth becomes stable. That is, it never falls into Sun, nor she leaves the Sun.
