No because in this case although force is applied but distance covered is zero as the earth after each revolution comes back to it's original place

Yes , I agree to the point when earth starts to revolve around the sun till to the point before it's original position.....as soon as the earth come back to its original position it's displacement becomes zero....so at that time no work is said to be done.
Because work done=force*displacement.
And we know that displacement is equal to the shortest distance between the initial and Final position.
