Answer:

Yes, the above statement is true because without atmosphere life on earth is difficult to survive. There would be no oxygen and breathing would become impossible. Moreover, The ultraviolet rays of the sun would enter directly because there would be no protective shield that is the atmosphere.

Gases from the atmosphere create a distinct type of climate on the surface of Earth which makes our planet habitable.

If there would have been no atmosphere on earth there would be no life as atmosphere is suitable for rain , production of oxygen by plants as well as survival of life in terms of temperature and humidity. Hence it can be said that the earth without an atmosphere would be a barren planet.

Many other planets such as Venus , Mercury , Neptune and Uranus for example do not have a habitable atmosphere hence there is probably no life on them.

UV rays which are stop by the ozone layer in the stratosphere would have directly entered the Earth's surface ; even if life would have survived without other atmospheric forms this UV rays could have killed the basic life forms due to which humans would have never evolved.

Thus we can say that atmosphere plays a very important role for life on Earth.

And we must protect it by using less objects that release CFC gases and reduce pollution.
