The earthing of an electric appliance is useful only if the fuse is in the live wire. Give the reason.​

Earthing protects the appliances and human beings in case of insulation fail or accidental short circuit. When the live wire touches the earth wire, large current flows through it and causes the fuse to blow off or circuit breaker to trip and thereby protecting the appliance as well as users

When current in the circuit exceeds, the fuse wire gets heated up to the extent that it melts , a gap is produced and the circuit breaks and the current does not flow through the live wire thus saving the appliance.

On the other hand if the fuse is put in the neutral wire , fuse burns current stops flowing in the circuit , but the appliance remains connected to the high potential point of the supply through the live wire and the person touching the faulty appliance man get a shock
