Efficiency = (work out ÷ work in) × 100%

Work in = 10000Joules

Efficiency = 40%

Work out =?

40/100= 0.40

0.40 = (Work out) ÷ 10000

Work out = 10000 × 0.4= 4000Joules

Work done by the engine = Work out put = Work out =4000joules.

Answer = 4000 Joules.
