Correct Question:

The electric heater rated 800 watt which is operated 6 hours per day. Find the cost of energy to operate it for 30 days at Rs. 3 per unit.

Solution:

Firstly we will find the total time for which heater is used.

=> Electric heater used in 1 day=6 hrs.

=> Electric heater used in 30 days=30×6 hrs.

=> Electric heater used in 30 days=180 hrs.

Since S.I. unit of electric energy is Kilowatt hrs,

Convert the given power of electric heater in kilowatts.

=> 1000 watt=1 Kilowatt

=> 1 watt=1/1000 kilowatt

=> 800 watt=1/1000×800 kilowatt

=> 800 watt=0.8 kilowatt

Now we have formula for electric energy:

=> Energy= Power×Time

=> Energy= 0.8 kilowatt×180 hrs.

=> Energy=144 kilowatt.hr

=> Energy=144 kWh

=> Energy=144 units   [1 kWh=1 unit]

Now we will find cost of energy consumption.

=> Cost of 1 unit energy=Rs. 3

=> Cost of 144 units energy=Rs.3×144

=> Cost of 144 units energy=Rs. 432

So the required cost of energy consumption by heater is Rs.432.
