Answer:

The structure is given above. (dots are electrons)

The electronic configaration of Magnisium (Mg) is 2, 8, 2. Because it has 12 electrons.

How we can configure electrons ?

In any atom we can figure only limit of electrons in the shells.

Shells :-

  1. K shell
  2. L shell
  3. M shell
  4. N shell

.....

According to Bohr Bury model

In any shell 2n² number of atom can stay there, where n is the shell number,

In first shell (K)

2n²

= 2×1²

= 2 electrons

In second shell (L)

2n²

= 2×2²

= 2×4

= 8

In third (M)

2n²

= 2×3²

= 2×9

= 18

and much more

So in the case of Magnisium, There are 12 electron.

In first shell (K) 2 electron (maximum)

in second (L) 8

and remained 2, we can draw it on Third shell (M)

So the electron configuration of Magnisium will be 2,8,2.

hope it helps.
