the elements of the second period of the periodic table are given below Li,Be,B,C,N,O,F (a) give reason to explain why atomic radii decreases from Li to F

Satya9937: From Li to F nuclear force increases. so nucleus attract electron cloud more towards the center. so increase in nuclear power radius decreases

Due to atomic radius

The atomic radius decreases because along the period the nuclear charge effect on the atoms increases, due to the increase in nuclear charge effect the electrons that revolve around the nucleus are pulled closer towards the nucleus. Due to this the radius of the atom decreases.

Hope it is useful.

raghav73: identify the most. (a) metallic (b) non-metallic element
Anonymous: Li will be more metallic as it belongs to first group.
raghav73: non metallic
Anonymous: F is the non mettalic element among the given as it belongs to 17 the group.
raghav73: thanks
