Covalent bond forms where there is less difference of electronegativity. So, Y and Z atoms will form covalent bonds.
Ionic bond forms where there is large difference in electronehativities. X and Z can form ionic bond because X has to donate 2 electrons and Z has to gain 2 electrons to achieve noble gas configuration.

Thanks.

Explanation:

(i) We know that a covant one in form between two non-metal elements.

Now, out of the elements X ,Y and Z are non-metals.

Thus, the elements Y and Z will form covalent bonds.

(ii) An ionic bond is formed between a metal and non-metal. Now, out of the above given elements, the element X is a metal an element Z is a non metal that element X and Y will form ionic bond.

Please note that element Y belonging to group 14 is also a non-metal like carbon

but it usually do not form Ionic Bond.
