The employment of young person on dangerous machines shall be prohibited under the Factories act of 1948
Factories Act.
- The act came into force in 1948. It says that no young is required or allowed to work at any of the machines to which the particular section applies, until and unless he has been instructed about its dangers and precautions.
- He can only work when he has received sufficient training in work regarding the machine and also when another person, who is well versed about the working of the machine is present with the young person
- The law aims at providing safety to the workers and hence to eliminate any unwanted mishaps from occurring. Thereby it provides legislation to regulate the condition of working in factories.
Other Objectives
- Health: it urges the factories to be clean, have a proper drainage system. It also says by this section that the working place should have enough light, ventilation and all other requirements for feasible working condition.
- Welfare: By this, the law urges factories to have all the equipment needed for the workers to use. it should have cloth drying facilities, resting facilities, first aid setups, lunchrooms, etc.
- Penalties: any violation of this act results in, imprisonment for a term that can extend up to one year. A total of 1 lakh rupees fine or both of the penalties.
By majorly prohibiting young workers from operating dangerous types of machinery, the government has made sure that there are all the measures to safeguard workers who work in the factories in very challenging conditions.
