let the no of students enrolled last year be x
then ,
552 = x + 15% of x
552 = x+15x/100
552 = (100x +15x)/100
552 = 115x/100
55200 = 115x
55200/115 = x
480 = x
hope this helps

Answer:

480 were enrolled last year .

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the no. of enrollment last year be x

There is an increase of 15 % in this

So, No. of enrollment this year = x+\frac{15}{100}x

We are also given that the enrollment in a school this year is 552 .

So, x+\frac{15}{100}x=552

\frac{115}{100}x=552

x=552 \times \frac{100}{115}

x=480

Hence 480 were enrolled last year .
