Pepsin is an endopeptidase that breaks down proteins into smaller peptides (that is, a protease). It is produced in the "stomach" and is one of the main digestive enzymes in the digestive systems of humans and many other animals, where it helps digest the proteins in food.

Heya Mate!!

Here's your answer!!

The enzyme pepsin is released in the stomach.

It is present in the gastric juice released in the stomach in the form of pepsinogen. When the medium around it is turned acidic, it changes to pepsin.

It helps in the digestion of proteins.

Pepsinogen \: --Hydrochloric \: acid(HCl)-- > Pepsin

Hope it helps you!!

Cheers ☺☺
