mountains are a type of down slopes but plains are flat .The river when flows from the slope in downward motion the speed of the running water increases and this speed causes erosional function. In plains the river becomes quite and becomes slow and form cuves.Due to the absence of speed the river erosional function does not take place.

The work of erosion and transportation of a river is more in the mountains than in the plains because when the water flows in the slopes of the mountains , it is in its 1st course which means that it flows very fast, depositing and eroding all that it can.
