Explanation:

Exhaled yah make the limewater milky because -

• The limewater itself is the aqueous solution of the Ca(OH)2 or calcium hydroxide.

• The exhaled air is mostly carbon dioxide gas which we excrete during our respiration.

• Now,by the reaction of calcium hydroxide and carbon dioxide,a substance is produced which is known as the calcium carbonate.

• This calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is insoluble into the water and that's why the water becomes milky.

Chemical reaction :

Ca(OH)2 + CO2 --> CaCO3 + H2O

Answer:

Because the exhaled air contains carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide in our exhaled air reacts with calcium hydroxide in lime water to produce calcium carbonate which is milky in colour.

Chemical reaction:

Ca(OH)2+ CO2 -----> CaCo3 + H2O
