The rule of East India Company started from the presidency of Bengal and expanded  to all the corners of Indian sub-continent. The expansion reached to its zenith under Lord Dalhousie. He adopted various policies and methods like Doctrine of lapse, direct annexation through war, annexation on basis of mis-rule for the expansion of Company.

Thorough Doctrine of Lapse he conquered Satatra, Jaitpur,Sambhalpur, Jhansi, Nagpur, Udaipur, Tore and Arcot. The state of Oudh was annexed on the pretex of mis-rule. Similarly Punjab and Sindh were annexed through direct war.

The policies of Dalhousie resulted 1857 revolt and after the revolt power was transferred from Company to Crown and policy of conquests was abandoned now. So territory expanded by Dalhousie remained the same till 1947 and thus we can say the expansion of Company reached its zenith under Dalhousie.
