The external dimensions of a closed wooden box are 22cm by 17cm by 11cm . If the wood is 1cm thick , find the volume of wood used in the construction of box . Find the capacity of the box also .

If the ext. dimensions are given then
The volume of external box = 22×17×11=4114 cubic cm
The internal length and breadth will be 2 cm less as the the wood is 1 cm thick .
So the dimensions of internal box will be
L= 20. B= 15 H= 11
So the volume will be 3300 cubic cm.
Volume of wood used= External Volume - Internal Volume
Volume = 4114 - 3300 = 814 cubic cm.
and the capacity will be 814 ml as 1 cubic cm = 1 ml
