Scattering of light depends on the wavelength of the light. The shorter the wavelength, the more it will scatter. Light of shorter wavelength can scatter event when it strikes an atom. For example:- Blue light has shorter wavelength whereas red light has longer wavelength.
The particles/molecules which scatterlight are called scatterers and can also include particulates made by human industry. Selective scattering (or Rayleigh scattering) occurs when certain particles are more effective atscattering a particular wavelength of light.
