Let the present age of father be x

and present age of son be y

Four years hence, the age of the father will be four times his son's age ,

\bf\:(x+4)=4(y+4)

\bf\implies\:(x+4)=4y+16

\bf\implies\:x-4y=16-4

\bf\implies\:x-4y=12................(i)

When father's age is six times his son's age then,

\bf\:x=6y...........................(ii)

Now,

putting x= 6y in equation (i) we get,

\bf\:6y-4y=12

\bf\implies\:2y=12

\bf\implies\:y=\dfrac{12}{2}

\bf\implies\:y=6

hence, y= 6 and,

x = 6y

x = 6 × 6

x= 36

so, present age of father is 36 years

and present age of son is 6 years.
