The father of Rohit is thrice as old as Rohit.After 12 years he will be just twice his son. Find their present ages.

The present age of Rohit and Rohit's father are 12 years and 36 years respectively.

Solution :-

Let the present age of Rohit be 'x' years

Present age of Rohit's father = thrice the present age of Rohit = 3 * x = 3x

After 12 years

• Rohit's age = (x + 12) years

• Father's age = (3x + 12) years

Given

Age of Rohit't father after 12 years = twice his son's age after 12 years

⇒ 3x + 12 = 2(x + 12)

⇒ 3x + 12 = 2x + 24

⇒ 3x - 2x = 24 - 12

⇒ x = 12

Present age of Rohit = x = 12 years

Present age of Rohit's father = 3x = 3(12) = 36 years

Therefore the present age of Rohit and Rohit's father are 12 years and 36 years respectively.

His father age after 12 years = ( 3x + 12 )

( 3x + 12 ) = 2 ( x + 12 )
