(x−5)=7(y−5)  

x−7y+30=0             ....  (2)  

From subtracting equation (1) from (2),  

−3y+7y−10−30=0⇒y=10

Putting y=10 in (1),    

x−3(10)−10=0⇒x=40  

Therefore, the present age of father is 40 years and that of son is 10 years.
