The fellow pilgrim does not think of the future and is selfish. He mocks the old man for building the bridge and says that he (the old man) will not be coming back to use the bridge as his time on earth is coming to an end.
The ‘Bridge Builder’ is a poem by American poet and writer Will Allen Dromgoole (1860 – 1934). In it, she describes an old man who crosses a dangerous, deep, wide, chasm and decides to build a bridge for others, who may follow.
