BD = 8 , BC = 12 and B-D-C
Consider the attached figure while going through the following steps.
Construction: Draw a line perpendicular to the BC from A and mark the point as X.
Now consider,
Area of Δ ABD,
Ar(∆ ABD) = 1/2 × BD × AX = 1/2 × 8 × h = 4h
Now consider,
Area of Δ ADC,
Ar(∆ ADC) = 1/2 × DC × AX = 1/2 × 4 × h = 2h
Therefore, we have,
Ar(∆ ABD) / Ar(∆ ADC) = 4h/2h
