Since the given triangle (say ∆ABC) is equilateral, thus,
AB = BC = AC
or
2x - 7 = y + 5
y = 2x - 12 --- (1)
Also given third side x + y - 9
Putting value of y from (1) in this equation,
x + 2x - 12 - 9 = 2x - 7
x = 14
Thus length of each side = 2x - 7 = 2(14) - 7 = 21cm
AB = BC = AC
or
2x - 7 = y + 5
y = 2x - 12 --- (1)
Also given third side x + y - 9
Putting value of y from (1) in this equation,
x + 2x - 12 - 9 = 2x - 7
x = 14
Thus length of each side = 2x - 7 = 2(14) - 7 = 21cm
